SCPA Div 4 ABC Hornets v Shedfield

Captains report on match today Sunday 14th September
- Hornets via Shedfield -
Our worst result to date - we lost 5 - 0 not surprisingly, it must be the most difficult terrain we have ever played on but we were not fannied! We were congratulated by the Shedfield players at how well we had done against them - no games were lost by more that 6 -13. Triples were Benny & Margaretha with Carolyn - after drawing level at 8 - 8 we then lost 13 - 8! Joan, Tony & Ingrid faired no better in the other triples losing 13 - 6. The doubles were equally disastrous for us - Joan & Carolyn losing 13 - 7 and the other two results somewhat similar. We were holding 4th place in the league but have now probably dropped down a place or two! although Shedfield are top with Hampshire Rose. We play again on September 30 against the Nomads at home so we will have to pull our socks up! this will be our penultimate game before playing the Ship Shapes away on October 17th - Carolyn

SCPA Div 4. ABC Hornets v Hampshire Rose

Captains Log Sunday.
we played against Hampshire Rose leaving Cranleigh in heavy, thundery rain. Tried to get hold of their captain to check if the match was on and eventually he rang back to say it wasn't raining there! We were unlucky (again) to lose one of the triples 13 - 12 having a lead of
12 - 9 before the opposition managed to score 4 to give them the game. Sickening to say the least! The doubles did not go entirely our way either - despite having a lead of 6 - 0 Tony and Ingrid managed to lose their doubles 6 - 13, Benny and Margaretha did not fair much better and also lost their doubles. However, Captain Carolyn and Sue managed to win their doubles game, 13 - 6 against H.R. Roz who said she hadn't lost a doubles game in the last 5 matches - so we must have been doing something right! only 3 more matches to go - next up Shedfield who are top of the league - Hampshire Rose are second and as of today we were third!

Today's players: Benny & Margaretha - Ingrid & Tony - Sue and Carolyn. Triples B & M with Carolyn I & T with Sue -
