SCPA. ABC Wasps v Bordon

The Wasps travelled to Bordon last night for our away game.
It was a warm evening and Bordon terrain is surrounded by trees. Cloud upon cloud of gnats, midges and mozzes descended on our fresh meat and they didn't stop until it was well after dark.
The results Bordon won 6 -3, a few of the matches were timed out and caused some animosity within the ranks.

ABC trip to France

It is only 6 days before 17 members of our club fly/drive to the south of France for 10 days boule.
The site is at Val Ras Plage and we will be staying in 6 berth chalets on the beach which is only steps from the lovely Mediterranean.
We will be playing at 4 french boules clubs and hoping to win a few games. We have been invited to eat with the clubs after each match..
On the spare days our campsite have arrange for us to play doubles and triples matches between ourselves and other boulist who are staying at the site.
There will be one morning for the ladies to travel to the local market for shopping, not to much thou.
The weather is getting better it looks like temps. around the 72 - 76 with a little cloud and hopefully not any rain. I will post the results and photos on our return

SCPA. ABC Hornets v Hampshire Rose Raiders

Captain's Log - stardate 19th May - Re: Hornets against Hampshire Rose Raiders. We met up at the Foresters in brilliant sunshine and had a good match against the Raiders. The triples were a bit of a disaster for us, i.e. not winning one! Margaretha, Benny and Joan were beaten 13 - 4 by three ladies from the opposing team who were playing very well. Similarly Tony R. Kath and Ingrid were beaten 13 - 3 by the Raiders Captain and two of their (very good) juniors.

However we pulled our socks up for the doubles and won two out of the three games. Ingrid decided she was the weakest link (not true) and decided to step down.

Joan and Tony played very well to take the game 13 -2 and substitute Carolyn & Kath triumphed over the two juniors 13 - 6. Unfortunately Benny and Margaretha, despite being level pegging for most of the game just didn't manage to clinch it and lost 8 - 13. This gave the Raiders a win by 3 games to 2, we however do pick up 2 points to add to our 9 already earned. The Raiders were third in the league last year being beaten by 1 point by the Wasps who have now been promoted to the 3rd Division, so we feel we put on a good show despite our poor beginning. Next Match after we return from France on June 10th. Carolyn

With temperatures well into the high 70's, we had our first meeting with Southampton Pilgrims.
After the triples the score was 1 game all.
Going into the doubles the first game was won by Ian and Jeff, we only needed one more win from the other two games... We lost the first and it was all up to David and Hazel they were well down but then came back into the game just to be pipped at the end 13 - 11.
We spent the rest of the afternoon sitting out in the sun having our sandwiches.
