SCPA committee meeting

I went to the SCPA committee meeting tonight, fighting my way to Portsmouth through the snow and hail.
There was a full committee present and around 12 club members present.
After the apologies and financial report, the meeting received the reports of the associatons officers. There was a discussion over the time taken to register coaches and get them CRB checked.
Coaches were advised to keep sending emails and letters to the national coach.

Our president game a brief run down of the lack of funds held in the BPF this was a cause of great concern felt by the members. This mainly came about due to the bad management of the BPF in the previous years, i.e. no accurate accounts being kept or available now.

Kath Knight brought up the issue of the juniors not being able to represent their country this year in Japan because of lack of funds in the BPF, she pointed out that the senior teams will be represented in Thailand. She said that it was more important for the juniors to be considered as they only had a short life as juniors and the commitment they make in that time.
We voted to send a letter to the BPF letting them know of our concern.

The SCPA coach's gave a detailed review of which clubs they had visited over the past month. I approached the coach after the meeting as asked if they where available to give us a session in the near future. This was agreed and the dates to be confirmed.

The full minutes of the meeting will be posted on the SCPA website.

Franks Birthday Bash

We had 20 turn up for training this morning. This consisted of six individual training exercises.
Three shooting and three pointing and I hope it was a great sucess.. More work required on trying to get the boule to turn either to the left or to the right.
Our main meeting started at 11 am and there were 32 members present we played a melle of 5 games of doubles and two with triples. It was good to welcome back Paul and Melanie who have just completed a three month tour of New Zealand hope they are ready to get back in to coaching and taking part in our leagues this year.
After our first game we were invited to take a glass of champagne and a slice of cake and toasted Franks 85 birthday. We all take great pride in having over 8 (may be more they look so good) of our members who are into their 80's (don't ask how may are over 70, from my point of view its great to be youngish) who are all playing to a high standard and also turn up for training of Saturdays.
Our day finished with lunch at The Foresters Arms. Thanks to Marlene and her lovely staff
Its great to get comments from our friends across the pond, hopefully if we can sort out the minor problems, we can get comments from our own club..
